No Rest For The Wicked
In one of the more hopeful signs I have seen recently, an influential organization that runs a large Muslim graveyard in Mumbai has refused to allow the bodies of the nine dead Mumbai terrorists to be buried in their cemetery. They say the terrorists were not true Muslims.
A Muslim graveyard in the heart of Mumbai has broken with Islamic tradition and refused to bury the bodies of nine terrorists who were killed during the attack on India’s financial capital.
The influential Muslim Jama Masjid Trust, which runs the 7.5-acre Badakabrastan graveyard, said it would not bury the gunmen because they were not true followers of Islam.
Hanif Nalkhande, a spokesman for the trust, said: “People who committed this heinous crime cannot be called Muslim. Islam does not permit this sort of barbaric crime.”
The authorities have no idea what to do with the remains now. It is very unlikely that any of the other burial places in Mumbai will accept the remains because of the decision by the Jama Masjid Trust – which has been backed by a number of Islamic scholars. (There was one dissenter quoted in the article. There is always an apologist.)
I can think of a number of creative things to do in this situation, but I’ll be civilized and refrain. I do think a very simple, elegant solution would be to cremate them. Or plant them in unmarked graves in a Potter’s Field.
But do not defile hallowed ground of any religion with the likes of these. Good on the leaders of the trust that reached this decision to preserve their graveyard. More decisions like this would strip the terrorists of their camouflage and reveal them for what they are. Sick, twisted evil men hiding behind a religion.

This is the first time I can recall any influential Muslims doing more than going tsk-tsk and then blaming a Muslim atrocity on non-Muslims, preferably Israel or the USA ro both.
Good for them.

I agree with the cremation idea. That is pretty common in India.

Being an Indian, I feel really touched that Muslims in India should share such deep feelings akin to us and take such appropriate steps. Really commendable.

Unfortunately, they just made themselves targets by their refusal. One has to remember that to these Islamofacists THEY are the true Muslims – anyone who steps up against them, even if they claim to be Muslims, are not true “warriors of Allah” and are apostate.
As for what to do with the bodies, I favor the unmarked grave idea – cremation is a religious ceremony for Hindus and should not be used for these animals. The unmarked graves would rob them of the notoriety they crave without violating religious rites.
