Jingle All The Way …… To The Poorhouse

Bookies in Britain are officially getting nervous. One bookmaker stands to lose over one million pounds if the worst happens. If there is snow on the ground at Christmas, that is. Why are they nervous? Because they are closing schools all over the country – because of snow.

Thousands of schoolchildren swapped lessons for sledging yesterday as the cold snap brought a blanket of snow to parts of Britain.

Hundreds of schools closed as overnight falls of four inches brought much of Northern England and North East Scotland to a standstill.

And with more snow and bitterly cold temperatures forecast over the next few days, bookmakers slashed the odds on a white Christmas.

And it is going to get worse:

The colder weather is being blown down on northerly winds from the Arctic.
After another bitter night, a frost and lingering patches of
freezing fog are expected to mean Wednesday will be just as chilly as Tuesday – with more snow to come.

Met Office forecaster Barry Gromett said up to eight inches are expected in parts of the North of England and Scotland overnight and Wednesday.

Meanwhile, on this side of the pond, an Arctic blast is about to set sail from the upper plains all the way down to Georgia by Friday. In fact, Accuweather is predicting the winter of 2008-2009 will be “one of the harshest in many years”. And finally, despite the mega amount of carbon emitted in the area of Poznan, Poland from the latest UN climate change conference and regardless of the amount of hot air released by the bureaucrats and activists, the current temperature is 34 degrees F with an overnight low of 26 degrees expected. With ice.

Hey, send that snow out here to Utah. We need to get some more of the ski areas open and operating.

No sweating in Britain from global warming, just bookies being nervous.
