…And Here’s The Pitch…
Political hardball, a la Rod “What am I Bid?” Blagojevich. It seems that Harry “Big Red Shoes” Reid called the mercenary governor to express his opinions on who would be an “electable” choice. According to Roddy, Reid expressed doubts about three candidates. All of them happened to be black. Isn’t it adorable when Democrats begin flinging race balls at one another?
Two, Blagojevich sources threw another brushback fastball past Reid, saying that the Senate Democratic leader had called the accused Democratic governor shortly before his arrest on charges of conspiring to sell government business and favors.
According to a report in the Chicago Sun-Times, Reid attempted to influence the governor’s nominee choice by expressing serious reservations over the 2010 electability of three potential Blagojevich picks — Reps. Jesse Jackson Jr. and Danny Davis and state Senate President Emil Jones.
All three men happen to be black, as is Burris.
Reid is said to have told Blagojevich he had more confidence in the electoral popularity of Illinois Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan, who like Reid is white, or Tammy Duckworth, an Asian American who heads Illinois’ Veteran Affairs Department.
One wonders when the transcript of that call is going to get released. One can hardly wait. My guess? Reid will roll over and seat Roland Burris. He’ll look even more inept than he already does – if that’s possible.

The longer this drags on the better Blagojevich’s chances of beating the rap become. If this becomes a race issue (as Blagojevich clearly hopes it does) then it will be hard to find a jury that will vote unanimously to convict. The O.J. Simpson Principle is at work here – find a racial angle that will result in a hung jury.
Democrats are experts in playing upon racial and ethnic hatreds for political gain. But they are not used to being on the receiving end, as Grand Wizard Reid has shown us.
