The Lesson

The best and the brightest. That is who Obama promised to staff his administration with. Jennifer Rubin points out what the “best and brightest” have come up with so far. And calls it a relatively cheap lesson, despite the cost.

The AIG mess revolves around a very simple issue: could the government have stopped the bonuses prospectively? This was such a vexing matter that it has now engulfed the entire administration and all of Congress, and served as fodder in an election two weeks away. But how much more complicated is cap-and-trade regulation and taxation for the entire economy? The AIG bonus issue is child’s play compared to devising a universal health care system that is simultaneously going to expand coverage, improve care, reduce cost, protect privacy, and digitize all our medical information. We’re just supposed to have faith in the Employee Free Choice Act’s phalanx of government arbitrators who will set wages, benefits, and working conditions in every newly organized factory and workplace in America.

If the “Best and Brightest” can’t manage one company how in heck are we supposed to trust them with the other grandiose schemes they have planned?

Are you sure you want these folks managing your health care? Managing your carbon emissions? Managing your employment?

Taxing the living crap out of you to pay for all those “improvements” in your life?

Frankly, I am appalled at the job this bunch is doing. I knew they were going to overreach. But I did not suspect that they would show how incompetent they were this quickly.

  1. The pressure must be tremendous on them. Even the teleprompter, heart and soul of this administration, was heard weeping from the stress in a quiet corner of the press room.

Jennifer Rubin’s blog over at Commentary has been Very Very good lately. She tried to give O the benefit of the doubt at first, but the Chas Freeman debacle flipped her bozo bit. That woman can write!

I hate to say it, Gaius, but I’m not surprised by anything that’s happened so far. I worry about our kids, you know? Speaking of which, I hope your family is doing well and can get through the next four years without suffering. We have friends losing jobs and homes already.
