One presumes that Joe Biden drew the short straw on this one. The Obama administration today admitted – via Joe Biden – that the “stimulus” plan was not working and that it would only “create or save” some 600,000 jobs – as opposed to the promised 3.5 million jobs.
“No one realized how bad the economy was. The projections, in fact, turned out to be worse. But we took the mainstream model as to what we thought — and everyone else thought — the unemployment rate would be.”
“Everyone guessed wrong at the time the estimate was made about what the state of the economy was at the moment this was passed.”
“The bottom line is that jobs are being created that would not have been there before.”
“Can I claim credit that all of that’s due to the recovery package? No. But it clearly has had an impact.”
On the contrary, Joe. A lot of us said that the stimulus was not going to work and was nothing more than a leftist wish list boondoggle masquerading as a plan to stimulate anything other than statism.
If the shiny-new White House hope and change (as revealed by Biden today) is correct, the “created or saved” jobs – all 600,000 of them – will cost a mere $1.3 million each. Nice work if you can get it.
Meanwhile, we LOST more jobs than that in just the last month. America has lost millions of jobs since Obama took office.
Other than a brag-up about a few police jobs saved in Toledo right after the “stimulus” passed, what other jobs has Obama claimed to have saved? What other jobs has this administration claimed to have saved or created? Other than the vaguely worded hope and change message, what can you point to as an accomplishment?
Fact is, we have lost jobs, steadily and very, very rapidly since passage of the Democratic “stimulus” bill.
Who knew the goal of that misbegotten spendaholic mess was to stimulate job loss?
At which it is all too successful.
