Letterman (And CBS) Feeling The Heat

David Letterman has (or actually will later tonight) - again – apologized to the Palin family. This apology sounds much more like it was crafted by CBS attorneys, although that is pure speculation on my part.

David Letterman directly apologized to Gov. Sarah Palin and her daughters on his program Monday night, saying he took responsibility for a joke that had offended Ms. Palin, her family, and her supporters.

Mr. Letterman opened the desk portion of his show with the apology in which he said he wanted to say he was sorry to “to the two daughters involved, Bristol and Willow, and also to the governor and her family and everybody else who was outraged by the joke.” Two weeks ago on his “Late Show” program on CBS, he had joked about Governor Palin attending a Yankee game with her daughter.

The joke, in which Mr. Letterman seemingly confused Willow, who is 14 and attended a Yankee game with Gov. Palin that week, with Bristol, who is 18 and an unwed mother, had to do with the Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez impregnating Ms. Palin’s daughter.

Last week Mr. Letterman somewhat defiantly said that there was a misperception going on and he would never make a sexually charged joke about a 14-year old. But he never expressly explained that he had inadvertently confused the two Palin daughters.

Monday he acknowledged that as the host of the program it was his responsibility to get the joke right. “I told a joke that was beyond flawed, and my intent is completely meaningless compared to the perception.”

CBS denies putting any pressure on Letterman. But this passage from the article makes a joke of that statement:

One advertiser, Embassy Suites Hotels, sent word to Ms. Palin’s supporters that they had ceased advertising on CBS’s website and did not want to be associated in any way with Mr. Letterman’s comments.

That is why I suspect CBS had a few of their legal staff involved in this iteration of Letterman’s apology. Because, Lord knows, any loss of advertising revenue for any media outlet is a very serious thing these days.

So there are two ways to go here. Accept Letterman and the lawyer’s apology or keep pushing.

I’m inclined to keep pushing at this point. I am tired beyond belief at the likes of Letterman taking increasingly vicious, increasingly slimy attacks against any conservative that disagrees with him or her. I am increasingly tired of “cutting edge” humor that is outright sexist, racist or anything else-ist which is perfectly acceptable and roundly applauded by the left. So long as it is directed against people they disagree with.

I’m tired to death over the screeching double standard.

Keep pressuring Letterman’s advertisers. Keep bombarding CBS with letters, emails and phone calls. Make this kind of thing stop once and for all. Not just for a little while until it “blows over.”

Make it stop. We all deserve better than this, regardless of political persuasion.

Shock is not humor. Humor ought to uplift (Bill Cosby) or give insight (Will Rogers) or help someone cope with the trials of life. Humor is not about demeaning, but for Letterman, that is what it has become. Letterman has demonstrated he is not a decent human being, not a principled man and certainly not concerned about anyone other than himself. It is sad that humor has devolved to such a level.

Maybe the statement was crafted by CBS publicity people, but there was no need for lawyers to write it. There’s no civil liability in making vile jokes about kids, if the context of the joke makes clear that the statements are not factual.

Despite Letterman’s intent to be a comedian, my perception of him remains; he is a perverted, bitter mess of a man who lusts for under-aged children.

Same applies to Bill Maher, his intent may be comedy however my perception is that he too is a perverted, bitter mess of a man who lusts for under-aged children.

Out of all the religions around the world how come it is that the Church of Hollywood Entertainment is the only religion which finds comedy in children being raped, pillaged and plundered?

Hollywood Entertainment, the opiate of the mindless masses; the addiction is worse than heroin or even more disturbing, tobacco!

Try prying the mindless masses from their shiny happy; they must have their Daily Show fix or they descend into madness.

Letterman needs to be fired PERIOD…. this is a vulgar man who deserves nothing less than to be let go… if CBS had any ethics, they will put him where he belongs: ON THE STREET, without a job…. i’m fed-up with all the garbage that’s on TV, we need to campaign to all networks to remove this filth….

You should have used a larger caliber.

Why, Gaius and Mockingbird – are the both of you advocating VIOLENCE (and gun-baased violence at that) against television set? Shame, shame, shame on you! You have both been reported to the TVADL (TV Anti-Destruction League). Expect a nasty post with many adjectives very soon.

On the TVADL website you can of course buy T-shirts and bumper-stickers sporting progressive slogans such as: VIOLENCE AGAINST YOUR TV IS NOT THE ANSWER, VISUALIZE WORLD PEACE IN HI-DEF, and YOU CANNOT HUG A CHILD WITH NUCLEAR ARMS BUT IT’S COOL TO HUG SOMEONE’S UNDERAGED DAUGHTER WHILE WATCHING LETTERMAN CRACK JOKES.

BTW: The URL for the TVADL website is

Edit: Had to kill that one, mwalimu. It drove the filters crazy.

I only advocated a larger caliber because full rock and roll was not available due to the shortage of ammunition.

Bring Me Letterman’s head on a Plate

Oh Please…..This guy gets nailed for a perverted “joke” and waffles big time , then comes up with one of the lamest non-apologies I’ve heard in a while. I really like the idea of suing this Orifice for defamation of character. As I noted in a another comment on the same subject, take him to court. Fix bayonets – “No Prisoners”!!!! If Palin is going to have a coherent family unit, then she must destroy Letterman. Simple as that. It’s possible. Between the suits at CBS and the advertisers (enablers), fear can be amplified. How, you ask? Get Rabid in the defense of a 14 yr old girls virtue. No quarter. Make it plain that the only way to put this unholy spectacle behind them is Letterman’s head on a plate. Scream “Pedophile” at every opportunity. Increase the pain in the suits lives to the point that he simply is no longer worth the effort to protect. Once again, you might ask how? Public protests and personal appearances. I can just see banners with Willow’s face on them in front of CBS headquarters. I figure that, since a “suit” in it’s general nature hates to lose money and advertisers, they will give in if there is no quarter, no mercy – Bring me Letterman’s head on a plate, and all will be forgiven, or the pain continues until the next stockholders meeting. Then, they will ask for your head.

Some will say that Letterman didn’t mean to attack Willow, that he was referring to Bristol. Well, that is sexist, misogynistic, and any feminist worth her salt should be standing at the forefront, pike in hand, screaming for his head. Oh, wait a minute…..I get it…….if her momma’s politics ain’t of a certain type, then to hell with her daughters, and while we’re at it, to hell with her.

The best bet is a civil suit alleging defamation of character of a Minor. DO NOT SETTLE OUT OF COURT!!!!! “Bring me the head of that disgusting pedophile on a silver platter, and while you’re at it, have all of his corporate enablers brought before me. Strip them naked, tie the to the post, and give them fourty lashes less one and then cast them out among the dogs.”

The only way to stop this nasty, perverted behavior is to instill fear. Nothing else works. You can’t reason with these people. So, you have to make it very painful.
Once again – what the suits respect is the almighty (well, after O’s treatment of such, perhaps it
isn’t) dollar. Make all the enablers of this half pint pedophile sweat. Perfumed sweat, perhaps, but the sweet smell of fear nevertheless. IMO the reason why a pedophile’s harassment of a 14 yr old girl has struck such a nerve is a realization that our civilization is slipping in a shocking way. I’m from Texas and New Mexico, and in my youth, the cure would have been brutal and swift. A severe beating…..4 or 5 months in the hospital, and the certain knowledge that if we had to come back, well……Back then everyone knew why such a “man” had to be beaten near to death to protect the other young girls. Folks these days, especially young liberals who can’t even protect themselves – literally – consider such behavior to be utter barbarity. Those who can’t protect themselves actually look down on those who can. Kinda reminds me of Rome just before the “barbarians” took care of the effeminate “metrosexuals” at the point of a sword. If the Police are involved, well, we know how tragically that works out these days…..Take a close look at how many sex offenders live next to you and yours. We have 18 within 1.5 miles of our door. Some people think that Palin was out of line when she said that Letterman shouldn’t be in the same room with Willow. She meant what she said, but who wants to consider Letterman a “sexual predator”? What words came out of his perverse mouth? His writers knew who was at the stadium, and Letterman licked his lips and had at it. If he doesn’t get fired, perhaps someone will introduce him to pain and consequences. It really doesn’t matter about his security, because men who are hired to protect him would despise him. These are the real consequences for such perverted behavior, that real men won’t lift a hand to protect him. Liberal thought doesn’t have to condone pedophilia. I’m all for helping folks who need help, but I consider Letterman to be a real danger to young women everywheres.
