The nearer your destination and all that. Obama’s health care “reform” is officially in real political trouble as of right now. Democrats in both houses risk serious – probably politically fatal – voter backlash if they pass Obama’s plans now. A straight majority of voters now oppose Obama’s plan – and a huge majority believe it will raise their taxes (which, of course, it will).
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 50% of voters oppose setting up a government health insurance company as President Obama and congressional Democrats are now proposing in their health care reform plan. Fifteen percent (15%) are undecided.
In mid-June, 41% of American adults thought setting up a government health insurance company to compete with private health insurance companies was a good idea, but the identical number (41%) disagreed.
Fifty-nine percent (59%) of Democrats favor the creation of a government insurance alternative. But Republicans (73%) and voters not affiliated with either party (62%) are opposed. (Emphasis added)
Obama is even losing Democrat-affiliated support. But the real killer here is the huge loss of support among independents. That’s a real big number. I heard one report today that Nancy Pelosi may delay the vote in the House and not try to railroad this through before the recess. You can bet that the Democrat’s internal polls are in even worse shape than Rasmussen is reporting – and that she knows she does not have the votes. Too many House Democrats are looking down both barrels of these poll numbers and know they will be out of a job come next November if they vote for ObamaCare.
Look for even more full power charm from Obama. But he is in trouble on this.

What I want to know is if stopping this debacle will slow down the slide into Obama’s Depression? How severely damaged is our economic morale? Are we headed towards civil insurrection as the enemployment surges past 15% officially (and yes I believe that it is 5-8% worse than the Ooover will admit)? What is the backlash going to be? Does the Tea Party have a real chance as a third party?
This is monumental. The Obamessiah has been campaigning hard for his Health Care Plan. And still the poll nubers, both for the plan and for him personally, are sliding downslope at an accelerating rate. I see this as a good sign. It shows that not even whatever hypnotic quality he has that got him elected is strong enough to make the American people stand passively by while he destroys our way of life. They are finally waking up to the damage he has already done and still has plans for. Will it be enough? We can only hope.
