What, Exactly, Is Being Taught Here?

A picture that is, frankly, a PR disaster for Obama. Or rather it would be if the media was doing its job these days. This is one of those self-inflicted wounds that Obama is prone to:

I am stunned that the official White House Blog published this picture and that it is in the public domain. The body language is most revealing.

Sergeant Crowley, the sole class act in this trio, helps the handicapped Professor Gates down the stairs, while Barack Obama, heedless of the infirmities of his friend and fellow victim of self-defined racial profiling, strides ahead on his own. So who is compassionate? And who is so self-involved and arrogant that he is oblivious?

Don Surber does a compare and contrast.

Like the “thoughtful” gifts of improperly region-coded DVDs for Gordon Brown and an iPod loaded with Obama’s greatest hits to the prime minister and queen of Britain, respectively, this smacks of utter self-absorption to the point of pathological narcissism.

Or the picture shows complete cluelessness on Obama’s part.

We report, you psychoanalyze.

(Either way, Crowley looks compassionate and caring in the photo, physically supporting Gates despite some of the truly hideous things Gates said about the man.)

The picture in question is a perfect example of the definition of character. When you do something for someone, expecting nothing in return (i.e., no payoff) you are an individual with character. Some people have it, some don’t. Crowley’s the big winner on this one!

    A picture is worth…..

Obama does not command enough words to explain that picture.

My guess is he will explain that it is Bush’s fault.

The Sgt did The Done Thing. Classy.

    My grandmothers would approve.

(re: the compare/contrast. I just realized today that Sen. Byrd got into office the same year a very nice “grandparent” couple I know got married; this October is their 50th– he’s been a pol for longer than this great-grandmother has been a wife. Eeek.)

It’s not about what he says, it’s about what he does.

    Priceless!

  6. Ira says:

I don’t remember Don Surber ever getting so many stupid, snotty comments from lefties as he’s gotten over the comparison of 0bama walking in front of Crowley & Gates versus Bush walking old Sen Byrd.

  7. Bob Sykes says:

Dr Sanity has already diagnosed Obama as a malignant narcissist.

  8. Foxfier says:

To be fair, Doc San doesn’t actually diagnose folks without an interview– she just points out traits that might indicate this or that, and describes disorders.
