You can hypothesize that the inclusion of a public option would eventually lead to a de facto single-payer system (which I would disagree with), but the fact is that this poll doesn't reflect how Americans feel about the actual proposals. I strongly support what Obama is trying to do, but you could still count me among the 57% opposed to a single-payer plan, since I don't think that would be the right course of action. Luckily, nobody's proposed it. None of the plans being negotiated in Congress are single-payer. All of a sudden they see that all of those things he promised them were lies. He is one of the smoothest liars I have ever seen and heard. I am firmly convinced that even today he can pee all over his most ardent followers and tell them it's a spring shower and they will dance with joy in the 'rain'. Unfortunately for him, their were a lot of people in the middle who voted for him because he seemed like the lesser of two eveils at the time. Those people are now finding out just how evil he truly is and they are decidedly not happy. Lots of 'buyer's remorse' floating around these days!
