Will Dealers Be Left Holding The Bag?

AllahPundit:

There’s actually a serious risk here that the feds are going to mismanage a simple car-rebate program into bankruptcy.

And the dealers could be left with nothing for their efforts. Cheerful thought.

I’ve been pointing this out for some time now. If they cannot run a straightforward rebate program costing only $3 billion efficiently, how well do you think they will do with a trillion plus dollar health care program?

The other thought is that dealers would not receive their money in a timely fashion, leading to a cash flow problem. They could go out of business while waiting months for the rebate.

Yep. Kind of like you or I could “go out of business” waiting months for our medical treatment or procedure to be approved.

I just hope the car dealers are ready for the coming slump. Thanks to the CARS program, anyone who was likely to buy a car anytime in the next year very likely did so in the last 2 weeks. That means there is going to be very little business for probably the next 6 months. Add to that the fact that the federal government isn’t capable of administering even this small temporary program without getting extremely behind in the paperwork and making payments to dealers and we are going to see dealers going out of business from the combination of those 2 factors. Are you sure you really want the feds in charge of your health care? How’s that hopey-changey thing going for you?
