The Increasingly Disastrous “Recovery”

President Obama, Washington officials and the ever-subservient major media continue to try to sell the American public on the idea that an economic recovery is beginning. The problem is, the real indicators keep going downward. Well, except for the unemployment number itself – that’s going up – rapidly.

Employers cut more jobs from their payrolls in September and the unemployment rate hit another 26-year high, as the long-battered U.S. labor market took an unexpected turn for the worse, according to a government report Friday.

The Labor Department said there was a net loss of 263,000 jobs in the month, up from a revised loss of 201,000 jobs in August. Economists surveyed by Briefing.com had forecast losses would fall to 175,000 jobs.

This is only the second time this year that job losses rose from the previous month, as the labor market had shown slow but relatively steady improvement since a loss of 741,000 jobs in January.

September marked the 21st consecutive month that the number of workers on payrolls has shrunk, a period during which 7.2 million jobs have been lost.

These numbers are flat-out disastrous for the economy. Experts are now talking about it taking years to recover the jobs that have been lost. Years.

The Democrats have been in power in Congress for three years now; in control of the White House for eight months. And what are they doing about the economy? Spending money we don’t have on programs that people don’t want.

How much damage was done by the “stimulus” plan? We’ll never know. But any claims that it would have been worse without the gargantuan waste of capital are ludicrous. That money could have been used more effectively by private companies – but it was drained out by a spendthrift gang of politicians to fund their pet projects and pay off constituencies that brought them to power. More money was spent stealing private companies and shafting investors – diminishing trust in the government by businesses with any brains at all.

And the idiots in control of Washington are still trying to spend even more. The leader of the gang went jetting off to Denmark on a complete waste of time today instead of trying to fix anything. That should tell you just how inept this bunch are. And they want to control the most personal matters in your life, your health.

If the Democrats think that this two ton chicken is not going to come home to roost on them in November, 2010, they are sadly mistaken.

Start calling your representatives, people. Tell them to stop trying to “reform” health care, stop trying to pass a brutal tax on average Americans in the form of a Crap and Tax bill and to get to work on creating jobs and healing the economy – instead of trying to kill it outright.

I find the disonance between what is happening and the happy talk coming from the media stunning. How long can this go on?

    Not long.

I just read that 20% of all bank loans in the US are now considered “unrecoverable”.

Things aren’t looking good. Crank up Jethro Tull’s “Fallen On Hard Times” from Broadsword and the Beast.
