Bush Leagues

Frankly, this is getting ridiculous. Nine months after replacing George W. Bush in the White House, the Obama administration is still running against the man - even though they never ran against the man at all.

“Certainly from our standpoint, this gives us a sense of momentum — when the United States has accolades tossed its way, rather than shoes.”

That’s the take of Hillary Clinton’s State Department on President Obama being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, according to her spokesman, Assistant Secretary PJ Crowley.

Point to one real accomplishment of Barack Obama toward world peace – not words, deeds - and we’ll talk. Otherwise, you are just blowing smoke – out of a less than parlor-worthy orifice – about your boss’s accomplishments.

And still trying to run against a man who was never a threat to your administration. That kind of bull is getting very, very, very past it’s expiry date.

Grow up, White House. This one is not really defensible on any grounds. Had Obama refused the award, he might have gained a bit of traction – now, no. All your spin and astroturf is meaningless.

You know, for the rest of his life George W. Bush will carry with him the scorn from certain segments of this country and from around the appeasing world for doing the hard thing. For making the toughest decision. For doing the dirty job of finally facing the enemy that had been hitting us for years unanswered.

He also carries with him for the rest of his life the blood of those troops who died under his watch as CiC. It’s part of the job. However, he does not hold those bloody hands far out ahead of him in disgust and denial … He holds them pressed so close against his chest that he reaches through his heart to his soul.

Last week Pres. Bush made an appearance for a speech at Wilderness Resort and Convention Center in Sevierville where he, in his simplistic but heartfelt way, expressed this thought:

“Every day in the White House was a joyous day for me,” the 43rd president said. “I miss being commander and chief of our military the most. You know you live in an amazing country when we have servicemen that continually volunteer to serve their country in the face of danger. I believe we have an obligation to give our troops all the support they need to accomplish their missions.”

The man had failings and flaws in his eight years, and he would be the first to list them for you. But he NEVER took lightly those brave and loyal troops who served under him.

As a matter of fact, I know of more than one Marine/service member who were facing the decision of retirement from their service. They decided to do so for several reasons, but the one most mentioned was the fact they wanted Pres. George W. Bush’s name on their retirement papers … NOT Obama’s.

I would wager the troops miss you too, Sir.
