Paving An Eight Lane Highway….

Guess where it ends:

My husband retired from IBM about a decade ago, and as we aren’t old enough for Medicare we still buy our health insurance through the company. But IBM, with its typical courtesy, informed us recently that we will be fined by the state.

Why? Because Massachusetts requires every resident to have health insurance, and this year, without informing us directly, the state had changed the rules in a way that made our bare-bones policy no longer acceptable. Unless we ponied up for a pricier policy we neither need nor want—or enrolled in a government-sponsored insurance plan—we would have to pay $1,000 each year to the state.

My husband’s response was muted; I was shaking mad. We hadn’t imposed our health-care costs on anyone else, yet we were being fined (”taxed” was the word the letter used).

We’ve spent much of our lives putting away what money we could for retirement. We always intended to be self-sufficient. We’ve paid off the mortgage on our home, don’t carry credit-card debt, and have savings in case of an emergency. We also have a regular monthly income of about $3,000, which includes an IBM pension. My husband, 61, earns a little money on the side, sometimes working as an electronics consultant on renewable energy projects. I’m 58 and make some money writing science books. We are not wealthy, but we aren’t a risk of becoming a burden on society either. How did we become outlaws?

Please go read the whole piece. It is important. Please.

The state simply changed the rules and are now forcing Williams and her husband to pay a tax – calling it a penalty is fraud, at least Massachusetts isn’t doing that.  Unlike the bills in Congress. But this is just a state government. Imagine how much uglier it will be when the full mailed fist of the Federal government comes down on you. For not having a health plan the bureaucrats approve of. Even if you are perfectly happy with what you have and it meets your needs exactly.

This is the model for what the Democrats are trying – desperately – to shove down the throats of America. This is why you have to start calling your Senators and representatives in Congress. Call even if the ones who represent you – supposedly – are rabidly leftist. Call – no matter what – call. Write. Email. Push back now, before it is too late.

Or that mailed fist will come down – on you.

The Democrats are trying to resort to outright fraud to convince America that a “consensus” has been reached. Time to tell them it has, most definitely, not.

And let us remind everyone OVER and OVER that the enforcement arm of ObamaCare will be the IRS.

No sympathy whatsoever. They were dyed in the wool democrats who voted to screw the rich in MA for the last 40 years and now they get to reap what they planted over the last 4 decades. I’m reasonably certain that these two both voted for Kerry and Kennedy.

“The Democrats are trying to resort to outright fraud to convince America that a “consensus” has been reached.”

Not just Democrats, remember Romneycare mandated and McCain’s Climate Change Fraud is supported by Lindsey Graham Cap and Tax.

The problem is Social Liberalism, not just Democrat.

syn- I agree it is a problem pushed on us by the firmly entrenched socialists of both parties. Hopefully they will become unentrenched in 2010. We MUST keep track of our congresspeople and their voting records. Any of them with records supporting the madness that is currently circulating in D.C. must go.
