The so-called “stimulus” bill, Obama’s first spending spree on taking office, has, according to official White House figures saved or created 30,000 jobs.
Not the twenty gazillion it was hyped to save or create. 30,000.
The first direct stimulus reports showed that stimulus contracts saved or created just 30,083 jobs, prompting more Republican criticism of the $787 billion package.
The data posted Thursday was the result of the government’s initial attempt at counting actual stimulus jobs. Obama administration officials stressed that data was partial — it represented just $16 billion out of the $339 billion awarded — but they said it exceeded their projections.
While the Obama administration fiddles with health care, massive expenditures and the never-talked about but absolutely inevitable crushing taxes that will be necessary, people’s dreams are burning to ash:
Other troubling signs: buyers passed on almost half the properties offered in Chicago and fewer than 100 bidders showed up for the event, which also attracted some online buyers.
“We’re having a difficult day,” said Tom Atkins of Zetabid, the company holding the auction. “There was a $1,000 property that no one bid on. You’d think a slum lord at the very least would buy it and put a (federal housing assistance voucher) renter in there for $600 a month.”
Go over and read that last link in its entirety. It should scare the hell out of you. They are practically giving these houses away – and people still don’t want them. And there is a tidal wave of foreclosed properties bearing down now that the moratoriums have expired.
This is a train wreck. Straight up. First link via Memeorandum.

People refusing to buy real estate in Chicago is a good sign, a sign of returning rationality.
What kind of fool would buy, or even accept as a gift, a long term investment in the corrupt cess-pool that produced Obama?
Following TARP, Stimulus II, and the Omnibus bill, our fate was etched in stone. The agony will only begin to leak thru to all the Obama faithful when State 2011 budgets get penned.
Do not stand under open windows.

half a million per job exceeded their expectations. Amazing. We could place baked turnips in administration jobs and get better results.
Yeah, and we could eat the turnips.
My mother lived through WWII in Germany. She often reminded me that under really, really, bad government one is grateful for a baked turnip and will kill to get it.
