Might be worse than we optimists have been thinking for the Democrats in 2010:
North Dakota Democrat Byron Dorgan said Tuesday he will not seek re-election to the Senate in 2010, a surprise announcement that dealt another blow to Democrats already struggling to protect their Senate majority.
Maybe his reasons are honest. Or maybe he looked at his internal polling. Judging by the reaction Bendover Nelson got in Nebraska, I’m betting on the latter.
The leftist agenda is not playing well in the center of America.

Just a few minutes ago, I read that Colorado Governor Ritter is likely to decide to retire. Democrats are heading for the lifeboats.
Why the democrats aren’t worried about the 2010 elections:

As of 12:01 AM EST, the Washington Post is reporting that Christopher Dodd will announce his retirement on Wednesday.
Drudge is reporting that Dodd will drop out tomorrow.
Dodd did drop out, just a few minutes past noon EST. And, another one bites the dust.
The dark cloud to this silver lining is that the seat likely remains Democratic, now.
As a ND boy myself, I can tell you why Dorgan resigned. He had two choices: 1) resign or 2) run for office again and loose to Hoeven. It is that simple.
