Corruption

The dirty little secrets of ObamaCare:

In this case, the special favors and vote-buying are so gaudy that some of the corrupt deals even have their own names: the “Cornhusker Kickback” and the “Louisiana Purchase.” In order to squeak by with the votes they needed in the House and Senate, Democratic leader offered money for hospitals in some districts, exemptions for limitations on Medicare Advantage programs in other districts, special tax breaks here and federal subsidies there.

It’s so bad that fellow Democratic Senator Blanche Lincoln felt the need to publicly denounce Ben Nelson’s “horse-trading” on behalf of Nebraska, and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, a liberal Republican who used to support the health care bill, has turned against it. Schwarzenegger explains: “While I enthusiastically support health care reform, it is not reform to push more costs onto states that are already struggling while other states get sweetheart deals. Health care reform, which started as noble and needed legislation, has become a trough of bribes, deals, and loopholes.”

Corruption touted by a paid hack portraying himself as a disinterested academic:

MIT economist Jonathan Gruber, one of the leading academic defenders of health care reform, is taking heat for failing to disclose consistently that he was under contract with the Department of Health and Human Services while he was touting the Democrats’ health proposals in the media.

Gruber, according to federal government documents, is under a $297,600 contract until next month to provide “technical assistance” in evaluating health care reform proposals. He was under a $95,000 HHS contract before that.

Gruber defends his touting as perfectly legitimate. Done on his own time. Yeah, sure. Close to a half a million dollars has no impact on his stance on an issue?

Grubber and Bendover.

The difference appears to be in the price. The trade is the same.

“Gruber defends his touting as perfectly legitimate.”

That depends. Which we all know perfectly well, because Bill Clinton taught us, depends on your definition of “perfectly legitimate.”

Gruber’s self-serving deception belongs in the same category as Janet Napolitano’s idiot claim “the system worked,” or Obama’s description of the Underpants bomber as “an isolated extremist.”

And, let’s not forget Algore’s absurd claim that AGW was “settled science,” or Obama’s preposterous claim that the healthcare reform “won’t result in higher costs.”

But, it’s not purely a Democrat shortcoming, Republicans do it too. George HW Bush said, “read my lips, no new taxes,” and after he got elected, he then raised taxes. George W Bush said, “Islam is a religion of peace.” However, the evidence is all to the contrary.

    It’s all disgusting.
Starting this year-2010-we Americans will start winnowing the government down. These liberals are nothing but vainglorious crooks of the first order.
They should be ducttaped and thrown to the alligators.
