Too Dumb To Report

I’ve actually defended Joe Klein a few times when the left went after him. I’m thinking I’ll probably take a pass on that next time. Behold: Klein thinks you’re all stupid:

It turns out that what people are really upset about is all that wasteful money that has gone to political public works projects…except that the overwhelming portion of that money hasn’t been spent yet. Remember all those “shovel-ready” projects? Well, they didn’t exist. The big jobs-creating projects like the rebuilt “smart” electric grid, major highways and fast trains will come on line during the next year. (Although these projects might have gotten greater public support if they’d been chosen by a National Infrastructure Bank–a panel of experts, like the fed–that would have picked them according to their value added, rather than by the bozo appropriators in the Congress.)

So, two thoughts:

1. The Obama Administration has done a terrible job explaining the stimulus package to the American people…especially since there have been very few documented cases of waste so far.

2. This is yet further evidence that Americans are flagrantly ill-informed…and, for those watching Fox News, misinformed.

Let me ask one question here. What is Joe Klein’s supposed job? Why, I think he’s a “journalist” – a “reporter”. As in one who reports the news so we can understand it.

So, if the American people are too dumb to thrive, too dumb and misinformed and ignorant to understand the wonderful awesomeness of their political elite’s plans for them, who is to blame?

Why, wouldn’t that be the “reporters” who are supposed to be “reporting” the news so we unwashed peasants can understand it?

Heck of a job, Joey.

Go back to your echo chamber, Joe. The American dodos don’t need the village idiot lecturing them.

I thought exactly the same thing when I read that piece. I too defended Joe in the past, though I long ago had second thoughts.

There is no defense for Joe Klein. The opinions expressed in his article represent the arrogance, ignorence, and two-faced hypocrisy so typical of the far Left’s political ideology embedded within the profession of journalism and characteristic of the modern Democrat Party.

Although Klien is sufficiently well informed and smart enough to report the failure of Obama’s corrupt plan, he chooses to wallow in left-wing political delusions, making excuses for expensive failures, and blaming the taxpayers for their lack of appreciation for Obama’s magnificence.

Joe Klein owes more to the people who buy Time Magazine than he’s willing to provide: honest reporting.

I’ve been up-close and personal on some of the stimulus. Job-saving? Heh. The round I saw was designed to “save” jobs in local government and government-dependent non-profits. Lo and behold, that’s what it was used for. But save or create jobs for the average citizen? Heh. I wish.

Even the “shovel-ready” stuff will mostly turn out to be projects long on muni/state wish lists, with contracts going to the usual local good ol’ boys clubs of favored and well-connected contractors and developers.
