Megan McArdle:
Who are you more likely to leave: the spouse who makes a pass at another woman, and then thinks the better of it, or the spouse who goes through with it? Maybe you’ll leave them either way. But it does not follow that they are better off going through with it. I don’t think it is actually true that trying to pass a bill people hate, and then thinking the better of it because it turns out the electorate hates it, is no different from trying to pass a bill people hate, finding out that they really, really hate it, and then ignoring them and pushing it through anyway.
But the Democrats, led by the ghastly trio of Obama, Reid and Pelosi continue to scheme and plot on ways to, as McArdle puts it, “Git ‘er done”. (yes, I know that’s a play off Larry the Cable Guy.)
Pelosi has promised the ObamaCare will pass by whatever means necessary:
“You go through the gate. If the gate’s closed, you go over the fence. If the fence is too high, we’ll pole vault in. If that doesn’t work, we’ll parachute in. But we’re going to get health care reform passed for the American people.”
Democrats might want to get a look at the Pelosi Mark I Policy Parachute before they sign on to her descent into the valley of the Little Bighorn.
Yes, I know 401k accounts took it on the chin in the past year. But they are beginning to recover a bit. And that money is yours, right? You worked for it, you saved it, your employer made some matching amounts and with the magic of compound interest, you planned to have that money when you retired. Controlled by you. Your money.
Maybe.
Maybe not in Omerica:
13. Should some form of lifetime income distribution option be required for defined contribution plans (in addition to money purchase pension plans)? If so, should that option be the default distribution option, and should it apply to the entire account balance? To what extent would such a requirement encourage or discourage plan sponsorship?
They are soliciting public input. It would be a really good idea to tell them where to input this plan. If you do not act, they will decide for you how you may use your money.
Hope’s that hope for change coming along? Maybe you misheard: was it “hope for chains?”
Get these maniacs out in November.

This, according to Obama, is a sustainable budget. This is making “tough choices to get the deficit under control.”
Let’s get this straight. This is not a tsunami of red ink. It is the fountaining of the very arterial blood of this nation’s economy. We are being bled out by the crazed, spendthrift ways of Obama and his Democratic henchmen. Don’t believe it was the recession that has done all this damage, either. That is a flat lie. Because here’s the spending graph:
Doubling spending.
We are being bled out by these people. Had enough yet?
I look at these images and see the chains that are being forged for my children. I’ve had enough. We have to get as many of these maniacs out of office in November as we can.
(Graphs come from here.)
