This is a PR stunt from a West Wing staff whose major experience prior to entering the White House was the electoral campaign, which is really just an accumulation of PR stunts. They’re going with what they know. The White House believes that the President bested the congressional Republicans at the retreat, and they want to try the same thing again.
As Cost points out, this Blair House “summit” is all about campaigning – not in the least about governing.
It is all show, all campaign stunt, all the time out of this totally inept Emerald House. The Wizard of 0 and his increasingly minuscule munchkin minions have absolutely no idea how to actually do anything but campaign. They eat, breath and dream in sound bites.
They are completely out of their depth and have no clue how to actually govern. The flailing is obvious and is getting worse.
They high five one another when they manage to win – or at least not completely blow – one news cycle. But they are losing a lot more than they are winning.
They can’t see they are losing overall because of their stunts. They think they are very, very clever people. They do not get – at all – that the country is seeing through their plots and schemes and are fed up with stunts and endless campaigns.
