When Smoke And Mirrors Fail

Whoopsie. They did not get away with it. They did not manage to ram ObamaCare down America’s throat without a very, very heavy butcher’s bill:

Florida voters dislike the new healthcare law so much that President Barack Obama and the state’s top Democrat, U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, are paying a hefty political price, according to a new survey and analysis by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research.

Only 34 percent of Florida voters support the new law while 54 percent are against it, according to the poll. Opposition is significantly strong among two crucial blocs: those older than 65 and voters with no party affiliation. Seniors disfavor the bill by a 65-25 percent margin, while independents oppose the law 62-34.

The poll, conducted last week, is the first to be taken in Florida since Obama signed the healthcare reform bill into law.

The narrative being pushed by the Democrats and the Wizard of 0 is that Americans will love the various elements of the plan. They will love those elements so much that they won’t even notice the chains being slipped onto them!

Guess what? It ain’t working. Independents and seniors are not buying the velvet-wrapped shackles by a large – and growing – margin. Better get those resumes out, Democrats! The brave new world you voted for will not include you in your current job. Sure, the majority of the almost dead media loves what you did to America. The rest of America, however, takes great exception. They will be telling you what they think of you and your schemes in a few short months.

The largest (by far) Medical Clinic in my county (pop 650K) quit accepting anything other than Medicare Advantage a couple of years ago. It will be interesting to see what path-forward they take; either way I expect to see notices of policy changes with significant cost increases going out…say early October (i.e. about the time November ballots appear since we vote by mail here in the Soviet). That can’t be good for Patty Murray, Jay Inslee (WA-1), or Rinker Rick Larsen (WA-2).

I vote in Florida and my gut feeling is that the Mason-Dixon numbers understate the opposition here to ObamaCare. And, it’s not simple opposition, it’s determined, and it’s organized, and it’s getting stronger every day.

The precipitous drop in support for Governor Charlie Crist and the corresponding broad based surge in support for Marc Rubio is a better indicator of voter sentiment in Florida. Crist supported Obama’s Stimulus Bill and it was the kiss of death for his Senate bid. Rubio was way behind before Crist embraced Obama and publicly checkmated himself.

Crist will be rejected in the Primary Election, the only question now is how bad GOP insiders will allow the party to be damaged by backing Crist against the TEA Party’s favorite son, Marc Rubio.

We have a another Dede Scozzafava situation brewing in the Sunshine State. The GOP establishment is backing Crist, a candidate conservative voters will not accept, and in the process driving a wedge between between key constituent groups.

Watch carefully as Democrats exploit the GOP’s traditional ineptitude.
