Rep. Ciro Rodriquez (Deranged-TX) gets violent when addressing a constituent. Mike Flynn has this to say:
I want to make two points; Rep. Rodriguez is an elected official with a duty to represent his constituents in Congress, no matter their political persuasion, and, he volunteered and asked for this job. He wasn’t ordered into this position by some judge, as some kind of sentence. He wants this job. It is a bit stunning that, at the first sign of criticism, he loses his temper so quickly. A confident politician would have been able to field this question.
When called out on it, Rodriquez ought to have been able to field the questions in a manner that didn’t resort to threats and a violent outburst. That he couldn’t tells you all you need to know about the political landscape today.
My friends, there is only one word to describe what you see in this video: PANIC.
All I can say is that if he had approached my wife in such a manner, he and I would not be best of friends. No, I am not saying I would have reacted to his violence in kind. I would have told him what I thought of his behavior, however. In clear terms that would not need a CBO score to interpret.
Ed Morrisey thinks that Rodriguez pre-planned the newspaper and the reaction to “boost his testicular quotient among the base”. But you’ll notice the Rodriguez did not try that stunt with a table full of large men. Nope, he singled out women to approach menacingly and to slam his paper down near.
I don’t think he impressed any real men (or, especially women) down in Texas-23. I’d keep an eye on the polls down there. I think he just gave his challenger, Francisco Canseco, a heck of a television commercial.
