I Got Nothing

I have been wracking my brain trying to come up with a post title that did not break my own standards here at the Crabitat. I can’t do it. I just can’t. Some things defy any efforts to keep up the tone around here.

For example, this absolute gem from CNN about the latest effort by a teacher’s union in a nearly bankrupt Milwaukee school district who are demanding – I kid you not – free Viagra for their members rank and file:

From CNN’s affiliate WISN: “The union claims that some teachers could be discriminated against by not having the drug covered by insurance.”

The station also reports that the Milwaukee school system is about $30 million in debt. Erectile dysfunction pills cost about $20 to $25 a pop – that most insurance companies do not provide coverage.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported: “In 2008, the teachers’ union filed a charge with the state’s Equal Rights Division, complaining that not offering the drug violated the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act.”

You know, I can’t even make a comment here without crossing that self-imposed line.

Need proof that there is something badly, badly wrong with what public employees are doing to the taxpayers? See above. The platinum pensions with ‘waaay early retirement aren’t enough? They need this?

The real question is: Do we need them?

I think they just answered that question rather definitively.

(Actually caught the Freudian slip before I published this, but decided to leave it as a strikeout rather than delete it. You have no idea how difficult it was not to have this post go south in a hurry.)
