This is a bad sign. Iran is urging Egypt to “follow the rightful demands” of its people.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast has called on political leaders in Egypt to follow the “rightful demands” of their people.
“Iran expects Egyptian officials to listen to the voice of their Muslim people, respond to their rightful demands and refrain from exerting violence by security forces and police against an Islamic wave of awareness that has spread through the country in form of a popular movement,” Mehmanparast said Saturday.
Of course, Iran followed the wishes of its people when it crushed dissent over the rigged election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, right? The hypocrisy is stunning.
I’d call the Iranian motives here highly suspect. If they are for the protests, you can about bet they have their hands in this. Remember that their proxy just took control of Lebanon, dooming that poor country’s citizens to a very bleak future. And there is additional unrest going on in Jordan.
This is looking pretty ugly to me.

Interestingly enough, he said “rightful demanda,” not “demands”. He was not giving a blanket endorsement of the opposition, but merely those loonies who love Iran. As yet, we have no idea how many of those there are.
