The number one focus of the Democrats and Obama, right?
Actually, not so much. Gallup releases its findings, not the heavily cooked books of the Obama administration. They find a 9.8% unemployment rate – but it gets worse. Add in the number of underemployed – those who can only find part time work and the number swells:
Underemployment — the combination of part-time workers wanting full-time work and Gallup’s U.S. unemployment rate — was 18.9% in January, essentially the same as the 19.0% of December. Underemployment now stands one percentage point below the 19.9% of a year ago.
Gee, there’s a booming economy. Not at all encouraging.

I keep trying to find the (CNN I believe) video of James Carville griping about unemployment during the GW Bush administration when it was something like 5.6% (and arguably at the same rate it was when touted as WONDERFUL under Clinton). He also did that serpent grimace of his and hissed something about how bad the economy was, and Bush was countin’ jobs that were burger-flippers, or something.
