A security warning from Microsoft that everyone needs to act on. There appear to be some ugly security holes in the sidebar and gadgets in Windows 7 that can be exploited by the bad guys. Microsoft has issued a Fix It to kill these features.

Interesting. I don’t use the sidebar, and the only gadgets on the desktop are the clock and a weather thingy. I wonder if I still need to do this?
Yeah, you do. The vulnerability is there whether you use the sidebar actively or not. I tried just turning the sidebar off – and a startup program on my computer still loaded a gadget.
