Earlier today, I hear that Davis Axelrod tried a little pre-spun trial balloon on a conference call saying that the Friday unemployment numbers might not be out on time. Then Labor said it might be late.
The U.S. Labor Department on Monday said it is “working hard to ensure the timely release” of the October jobs report, saying it intends to released the report on schedule Friday despite Hurricane Sandy.
That doesn’t mean they won’t cook the report, of course. But failing to release the report would have been roundly attacked – rightfully – as politics – trying to protect Obama.
The last report was extremely hard to believe since it magically reduced the unemployment rate despite there not being anywhere near enough jobs created. So we’ll see what this one says.
