I was planning a post pointing out the self-centered stupidity of running the New York City marathon on Sunday despite the devastation in the Big Apple. Which was Nanny Bloomberg’s plan.
Just as I sat down, news broke that the marathon has now been canceled.
However, I can’t pass up one bit from what I was planning:
But the marathon has the potential to lift the city’s spirits, he said. It has an atmosphere unlike any other event in the city, filled with energy and excitement as spectators watch the runners speed by.
“It will definitely be a good way to get the city excited again,” McInerney said.
No, you self-centered jerk. It will get the city – at least those in trouble right now – rightfully angry. They might have gotten energized had the race been run, just not the way you think.
The city needs recovery, not that stupid race. Not the stupid endorsements of your creepy mayor.
Do your real job, Nanny.

Bloomie’s a bloomin’ idiot.
I am very surprised Mr. I-know-how-to-run-your-life-better-than-you-can has backed down and reversed himself.
He has always seemed deaf to criticism in the past.
I wonder who and/or what made him change his mind?
He wants to run for president. Can’t afford any negatives. And things are likely to get worse in NYC this weekend.
I wouldn’t give credit to nanny Bloomberg for this decision – NY Road Runners and ING most likely have a say as they both were getting a black eye from the decision to continue with this “lift for the city’s spirits” while so many other New Yorkers were without some of life’s basic necessities (food, water, shelter, and warmth).
I’d bet the corporate sponsors were getting bad vibes. That would tip Nanny.
